Breakout Star Byeon Wooseok Confirmed to Appear at ASEA 2025 in Yokohama

Actor Byeon Wooseok will grace the stage at the Asia Star Entertainer Awards 2025 Presented by ZOZOTOWN (ASEA 2025), scheduled to take place on May 28–29 at K-Arena Yokohama in Japan.

The ASEA Organizing Committee officially announced on April 10 that Byeon Wooseok will participate in the event and serve as a Grand Prize presenter during the second day of the awards on May 29.

Byeon Wooseok first entered the entertainment industry as a model before making his acting debut in tvN’s Dear My Friends in 2016. He went on to build his career steadily with appearances in SBS’s Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, MBC’s Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Ju, the film Midnight Runners, and tvN’s modulove, Record of Youth. Most recently, he starred in JTBC’s Strong Girl Nam-soon, continuing his consistent growth as an actor.

In 2023, Byeon catapulted to stardom with his breakout role as Ryu Sun-jae in tvN’s Lovely Runner, creating a major sensation. His striking visuals and heartfelt, delicate portrayal of romance captured the hearts of audiences not only in South Korea but across Asia. His popularity led to a sold-out fan meeting tour across eight cities, including Seoul, Taipei, Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo — with all 12 shows selling out in record time.

Riding this wave of popularity, Byeon’s performance of the drama’s OST Sudden Shower soared up the charts, competing against leading chart-toppers. As a result, he is considered a strong contender for the OST Award at ASEA 2025.

In addition to his success in acting and music, Byeon Wooseok continues to dominate the advertising world and is set to star in the upcoming drama 21st Century Grand Princes Wife alongside IU, further raising anticipation for his future projects.

Marking its second year, ASEA is a premier awards ceremony where Asia’s top artists gather to unite with fans worldwide through music. The inaugural event in 2024 saw the likes of Stray Kids, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, DAY6, TREASURE, SHINee’s Taemin, and Creepy Nuts captivate audiences with electrifying performances.

This year's ASEA 2025 will feature another star-studded lineup, including aespa, ATARASHII GAKKO!, &TEAM, BADVILLAIN, ENHYPEN, HANA, Hearts2Hearts, KiiiKiii, NCT WISH, NEXZ, NiziU, n.SSign, SKY-HI, THE BOYZ, THE RAMPAGE from EXILE TRIBE, timelesz, and Xdinary Heroes (in alphabetical order).

On May 28, THE BOYZ’s Juyeon and IVE’s Rei will serve as MCs, while actor Jang Keun-suk will present the Grand Prize. On May 29, MC duties will be shared by actress Kim Hye-yoon, MONSTA X’s Hyungwon, and THE BOYZ’s Younghoon.
